Ferret Grooming Tools

Using the right tool for each grooming task lets you safely and quickly take care of all your ferret's grooming needs. Brushing your ferret helps remove loose fur, which reduces the likelihood that he'll swallow it when he's cleaning himself. If a ferret ingests too much fur, he can get a hairball in his stomach or intestines. Because the ferret's intestines are narrow, a hairball can become a life-threatening blockage or partial blockage situation. So keep your ferret brushed, especially when he's shedding in the spring and fall, and be sure to give him some hairball remedy, too.

Clipping your ferret's nails doesn't need to be an ordeal. A drop or two of a skin & coat supplement or something else he can lick on his belly should keep him busy why you clip his nails.

In case you clip too close to the quick (the little vein inside your ferret's nail), you can stop any bleeding with a dab of styptic.

Ferrets don't love being wet after a bath, you can help them get dry faster with super-absorbent bath towels or a drying sack. Some ferret owners have been known to put several towels in the clothes dryer before putting them on the floor in a nice warm drying pile.
